Blank Transaction Description for Chase HELOC and LOC accounts

With the recent change on how Mint connects to Chase Bank, we can no longer pull in the transaction description of Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) and Line of Credit (LOC) accounts in Mint.

We receive the transaction data directly from Chase Bank via OFX. Unfortunately, Chase does not include the transaction description for these accounts. You can confirm this by following the steps below:

  1. Login to your account at the Chase website.
  2. Open your HELOC or LOC account.
  3. Locate the option to download transactions, and choose QFX for file type.
  4. Once the file is downloaded to your computer, open the file in Word or Notepad to view the transactions.
  5. Locate the section for each transaction labeled as “DESC” or DESCRIPTION and you will see this line is blank.
