You can create your own categories for your transactions in Mint. Here’s how.
From the Mint app (Android only):
- Open the Mint app and scroll down to Recent Transactions. Tap on see all.
- Find the transaction you’d like to recategorize and tap on it.
- Select Category.
- Select Add a subcategory under the category that fits best.
- Name your new subcategory and select SAVE.
- Your new subcategory is created and you can use it for any of your transactions.
From Mint.com:
- Sign in to Mint.com.
- Select Transactions near the top of the page.
- Choose the transaction you’d like to update and select its existing category.
- Select the arrows that appear next to the category name.
- Select Add/Edit Categories…
- Select the corresponding main category from the list and select ADD A CATEGORY.
- Enter the name and select SAVE.
If you want Mint to use this category for all future transactions from this merchant, you can create a rule.
