How do I create and manage transaction rules?

To create a new rule for your transaction(s), log into your account on the Mint web app and follow the steps below:

  1. Click the transaction that you want to create the rule for and and click Edit Details.
  2. Change the name or change the category of the transaction according to how you wish for it to appear. This will bring up the "Rules" option.
  3. Check the checkbox next to the Rules row to "Always rename "payee name", and categorize as "selected category".
    • NOTE:  All previously recorded transactions for this payee will be updated with the new changes.
  4. Click I'm done.

To manage existing rules, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the "manage your transaction rules" link at the bottom of the Transactions tab. 
  2. A popup box will appear showing all of your existing rules.
  3. Click Edit next to the rules you would like to change or the button to delete the rule. 
  4. Click Okay
