How do I split and un-split transactions?

You can split transactions in Mint to accommodate for multiple spending categories in one purchase. For example, if you spent $100 at Target, you can split it into $50 on groceries, $25 on home supplies, and $25 on baby supplies. Splitting your transactions helps keep your budgets accurate. Here’s how to do it.

From the app:

  1. Open the app and scroll down to Recent transactions. Tap See all.
  2. Find and select the transaction you want to split.
  3. Select Split transaction.
  4. Enter how you’d like your transaction to be divided.
  5. Select Save.

From Mint.com:

  1. Sign in to Mint.com and select Transactions from the top menu.
  2. Find and select the transaction you want to split. Select EDIT DETAILS.
  3. Select the forked arrow icon next to DETAILS.
  4. After clicking the icon, a new box will appear: Split Your Transaction.
  5. Enter how you’d like your transaction to be divided.
  6. Select I’M DONE.

To reverse a split transaction, follow the steps above and select either the x or red minus sign next to the extra transaction entry.
