I got a confirmation code but never asked for it

You don’t need to worry. Neither you nor the intended recipient's identity is compromised in any way.

The intended recipient simply entered the wrong email address or User ID—which happened to be yours—by mistake.

Since the confirmation code went to you and not the intended recipient, they weren’t able to complete the sign in process. You can delete the messages.
